Arbel's designs instantly become the focal point of any interior, creating an ethereal nexus of the universes of illumination, sculpture, and installation.

Over the ensuing decade, Bocci has grown into an expansive range of lighting designs organized into families that are characterized by overarching aesthetics achieved through Arbel's masterful experimentation and manipulation of materials - molten metals, blown glass, porcelain, ceramic - all infused with cutting edge illumination technologies. The pair returned to Vancouver and launched Bocci with Arbel's single, now iconic and award-winning '14' pendant. Minimum drop length: 23.6" h | 20W xenon long life bulb or 1.Bocci was founded after a chance meeting in 2005 of its principals, Omer Arbel and Randy Bishop, during New York Design Week where Arbel was presenting a prototype of a cast glass pendant lamp and Bishop was attending a convention. Please note: Due to the handcrafted nature of this piece, the size, color depth, tonality, and both number & location of interior satellites will vary. Unless otherwise specified, one transformer is sent for every three pendants. Canopy attaches directly to a standard junction box.

All Bocci designs are developed, engineered, and fabricated in-house through an infrastructure calibrated to provide full control over technique, quality, and scale.īocci recommends mounting transformers remotely in a close, accessible and hidden location for ease of long term maintenance. Today, Bocci has a growing portfolio of contemporary design ranging from light installations through to furniture and electrical sockets. The company launched with one product, 14, which became an instant classic and remains a design staple and bestseller. In 2005, Bocci was founded in a red barn surrounded by hay fields, on the periphery of Vancouver, Canada. Omer Arbel's work has been exhibited in various museums around the world. His interdisciplinary practice spans multiple scales and cultural-economic contexts. Additional cable lengths are available in increments of 10' feet, up to a maximum of 100' feet in special applications.īocci Creative Director Omer Arbel explores the intrinsic mechanical, physical, and chemical qualities of materials as fundamental departure points for making work. Finishes : unlacquered brass or black powder coated stem. Material : blown glass, black flexible cord, brass dial control, unlacquered brass or black powder coated base. Dimensions : Heights : 0.9m (3’) or 1.8m (6’) long stem. Round, brushed-nickel canopies come standard with 10' feet of coaxial cable. The result is an ambient chandelier or field of light. The pendants hang in shape of a hexagonal bouquet, bundled together by an adjustable ring which changes the curvature of the piece and its proportional reading. Each sphere contains an interior landscape of satellite shapes, including an opaque milk glass diffuser.Ģ8.7 is a cluster of seven 28 pendants hung from a round canopy.

28's are possible with infinite versatility in color compositions, sizes and shapes. The result is a distorted spherical shape with a composed collection of imploded inner shapes, one of which acts as a shade for a low voltage (12V, 20W) xenon or LED light source. Individual 28 pendants result from a complex glass blowing technique whereby air pressure is intermittently introduced into and then removed from a glass matrix which is intermittently heated and then rapidly cooled. Instead of designing form itself, here the intent was to design a system of making that yields form. 28 is an exploration of specificity in manufacturing.
